American Sculptor Chris Rothermel is returning to his roots in Maine and shifting gears from modernity to focus on the human figure. Rothermel's private collection of original bronze works is being shared publicly for the first time this summer. The emphasis on the human condition is present in his works as we see our reflection through his eyes.
Born in Britain, Jon Isherwood studied art at Leeds College of Art in Leeds, England and earned a BA with honors from the Canterbury College of Art in Canterbury, England. The tension between shape and skin that characterizes Isherwood’s work is further reflected in the tensions surrounding his technique and material. His sculptures are the result of a unique process in which the ancient and the modern confront one another: marble, the oldest and most sensual sculptural material, is carved with the help of high-tech methods.
Roger Williams of Ohio, settled his family in Maine in 1975 where he lives today. Years of expertise in the advertising field with his agency in Portland, Maine along with years as art director for McCann-Erickson in Pittsburgh and Ohio for Howard Swink led him into the fine arts. Williams prolific nature results in iconic Maine landscapes and oil paintings that capture local color and highlight natural beauty.
Laura Green Rothermel is painting her way out of the proverbial corner. Years of longing to live north and find freedom from life circumstance; resulted in paintings of every size and color imaginable. The paintings are making their first public appearance this summer.
